At the moment there is a lack of HD source material from the japanese encoders, as soon as new material comes to our attention we will aim to get the HD encodes caught up, you will just have to be patient during this dry spell of HD encodes, there is not much we can do about it I'm afraid.

Either way, thank you for letting us know that HD encodes aren't just delayed, but rather delayed until something changes. That certainly changes my wait from rabidly checking to see if the HD is up to relaxing until it eventually shows up as a happy surprise.

Well, the last two years has been troublesome because of encoders getting arrested and P2P crack down in Japan. Could be that. For all we know, the encoder could be out sick. There's really no good way of knowing

I know you guys have been having trouble getting proper raws; are the repeating frames in certain scenes (3 frames & a repeat in a 4 frame cycle, for 18fps effective) a product of that, or is it something your encoders are doing?

Did this problem exist before or after we started having the raw problems?

Are you going to give a timecode of when this problem occurs? I didn't notice anything like that when I was watching the episode. Please give a timecode of when this happens or we don't know how to help you.

i kinda think you guys should stop using these encodes and stop doing HD until we find stuff that alot better that this. i know i said it was better than nothing but SD is better than this. plus i can't stand the abc watermark on every frame and that jumpyness of the picture so i'm gonna stop with the HD shinken until we get our normal encodes back or the hunters find something just as good or atleast better than this. sorry but watchability for me means stable picture and synced sound, thought the sound this is no issue with these encodes or any i've gotten from here it's was important for my watchability thingy. BTW i find it odd that shinken and rescue fire are affected by this but double isn't. must be a different guy doing it so hopefully that means that if the same guy does shin and rescue fire that he just went on a vacation, it's not the one site effected by people with LIVES. and i'm out of breath, gonna shut up now, maybe get a drink of water, watch a movie, hey look at the kitty. <leaves>.

Well, no. Here's how this is going to work: You don't download them if you don't like them. Other people, you know, people besides yourself, might want these encodes even if you don't. You know there's a problem, make an informed decision that best suits your situation

It's almost as if they're different things. Crazy! Do you know what I find strange? That a dog is different from a cat. I mean, what's up with cat owners? Cats aren't dogs. Why do some people have cats but not dogs? That's just odd

After you started having the RAW problems. So everything up to 40 is fine.

Sure. The easiest place to see and compare it at is roughly 10 seconds in to the intro, just after the series title card. If you step through the video with something like Media Player Classic, you'll get the 3/1 repeating pattern through the rest of the intro. This does not occur on the intros on 40 and before. Nor does it occur everywhere in 43; it only occurs in some scenes.

I've been told that the Super Sentai airs at 1080 interlaced, so judging from the visual evidence my guess is that the source file is being inverse telecined correctly, but then the wrong frame is being thrown out. Rather than throwing out the duplicate frame, a unique frame is being chucked, causing the 3/1 pattern. This causes the jumpiness that gmottl mentions.

Since I don't know if you guys are getting your raws deinterlaced or not, I don't know if this is something your suppliers are doing, or if it's something your own encoders are doing. Obviously if it's the later, it would be nice to fix it.

Just to add to this, here are some frame-by-frame screencaps from 40 and 43. Since the intros line up perfectly, you can see what's going on.

If you start with frame 1 of each episode, both frames are from the same moment of the intro and are perfectly in sync. But when we move to frame 2, on 40 we get a new frame, while on 43 we get a duplicate frame. On frames 3 and 4, we get new frames on both encodes, but now 43 is lagging by 1 frame. 43 frame 3 is 40 frame 2, etc.

Finally when we get to frame 5 both are back in sync, but if you're paying close attention you'll notice that there's no equivalent of 40 frame 4 in the episode 43 frame set. This is the missing frame; it was a new frame that was dropped instead of a duplicate frame. Technically 43 frame 2 should have been dropped instead of 43's missing frame.

Anyhow, this is what I'm seeing. As I said before it looks like a bad IVTC, but I don't know if you guys are doing the IVTC or if it's the raws coming like this. If you can fix it great, otherwise obviously your hands are tied. I just don't want to come off as if I'm complaining here - I'm not (you do great work) - I'm just letting you guys know what's up, since it looks like not everyone has noticed this.
