Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
I started watching Power rangers, and I am still a fan of it. One day after watching Power Rangers SPD at year 2006 (dubbed in Spanish), I saw on the credits: "Based on "dekaranger" from the japanese tv series" created by TOEI, and by looking on Wikipedia it taught me that ot there were 30 Super sentai series and 15 Power rangers series.
In my country there is almost no Tokusatsu Fan or Guardian. Beside, downloading episodes from this pages is impossible due to my low bandwith. Yet, I went to "this page" and started buying dvds having Tv-Nihon subs; by then I went to the Tv-nihon´s page.
Bye.

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
Yay interview with TVN...exciting.... Well at least you didn't get duped for too long before finding TVN. Hmm aren't we over 30 sentai by now? I mean Aka Red represented the power of all 30 and that was...Boukenger? Anyone care to elucidate this matter? Bah I've already written out my toku origins so I won't repeat it.
But I am quite happy that I found TVN. Despite my activity on these forums, I am inexperienced in the ways of forums. It probably shows, I dunno. I've always simply gleaned necessary information off the many internet forums but this was the first time I felt like joining in and sticking with it. At times I do wonder if I'm being a bother... Oh well. I have always had this sorta disdain for internet communication. Or rather I got bored of chatrooms since I was 16 or so. Amidst the protest of my friends who want me to download AIM, I am too stubborn and refuse to do it. I find it irritating having to talk to people in real time online because I'm often busy on the computer and I hate responding to 'pop-ups'.

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
Getting into Toku, like most people, I heavily got into MMPR when the first episode aired and became a huge fan of it until about half-way though Turbo. I just got bored of it to be honest.
Fast-forward many years later and Wild Force was on TV, aswell as reruns of Time Force. I caught a few shows and started really liking PR again. I went online to learn a bit about the seasons I missed and during my investigating, heard about Super Sentai and learnt about that too.
Shortly after, I got my first real taste of Sentai by buying a HK copy of the official Gaoranger VS. Super Sentai DVD since I thought it would the best place to start learning, and I've been a fan ever since. Kamen Rider I mostly ignored though for some reason until Den-O, I'm not sure why.
(I really should catch up on earlier seasons...)
TV-Nihon-wise, I didn't find TV-N until during Deka when it was mentioned on Rangerboard. I started downloading Deka eps (on 56k net, I might add!) and I've been a fan of this place ever since. They've always been my first stop for subs.
I didn't start posting here on the forums until a few days ago though since I'm kinda shy, agoraphobic and like to keep to myself. I recently finally just decided "ah, screw it" though, and went ahead and started posting anyway, lol. ^_^;

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
A friend of mine in high school CONTINUOUSLY told me to watch Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. She even gave me a VHS tape with a few of the eps on it. But, when my VCR didn't cooperate with the tape, I didnt really watch it. Fast forward to my final year of high school and I had just got through watching my first ever subbed series completely (Digimon Savers). I remembered that my friend had -- as will still -- suggesting PGSM so I went online to find it. Found it on Youtube first, then went to AnimeSuki to try to find it, then TV-N. DLed and LOVED PGSM, then discovered the VHS i had your subs on it!
Soo... then I got nosey. I saw Cutey Honey & Sentai and remembered it had something to do with Power Rangers, so I dled Geki and FELL IN LOVE WITH MELE! So, I think as I got towards the end of that, I got even nosier and was like "What the hell is all this 'Kamen Rider' stuff they keep releasing?"... and downloaded Kiva.
While I was watching what you had released of that, I decided to dl another KR -- Den-O -- to keep me occupied while I waited for more Kiva releases. FELL IN LOVE!!!! >< I had also DLed Kabuto after I was done with Den-O, but HATED it cause it wasnt Den-O.
Then, I was like "MAN UP!" and watched some more... and fell in love. ^_^ Lesse... Also DLed Magiranger somewhere in between all this cause another friend online suggested it -- loved it. And.. that's enough of the past. I've pretty much lost track. ^_^ Luv Sh15uya, too.
Anyways... I'm currently watching Ryuki and 555, and love Faiz. Ryuki's still growing on me. Lol. Hibiki is sitting on my external until I finish 555, along with Keitai7 (I liiike, just gotta find time to sit down and watch it), Akihabara@DEEP, Garo, and PPGZ (watched most, need to finish).
... I think I've named everything of yours I have. o_o Pretty much, if you've released it, I've at least tasted it (and possibly put it in the fridge for later consumption).

I found TV-Nihon through Youtube search's of Sentai and Kamen Rider just to see what I was missing out on when I was watching Power Rangers, began to watch Magiranger on Youtube then decided to come to the site that was doing the subs and start to download them and i've been hooked ever since.

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
Well it all started back in 1993. I was only two years old yet one of the best TV shows in the world was a little show called Power Rangers. In reality I don't remember much. The only episodes I can remember well are the ones I had on VHS (early S1, mid-S2, early S3). One of my favourite things to do was watch a taped video of mid-S1 that my grandma made for me. Unfortunately it got taped over. Another memory I have is wanting to watch the Island of Illusion episodes at my friend's house but he said they were scary and that he didn't want to watch them.
Anyway, so PR went off the air for a few seasons until Space. I didn't watch it then though I did see a few episodes. It wouldn't be until I got unlimited access to the net that I got to watch the final episodes. They're awesome.
Skip forward a bit more to 2007 where I'm watching random PR episodes through YouTube. I tried to get one of my friends into it but he was more interested in the Japanese series behind it. So then last year he happens upon TVN and starts watching Go-onger. He gets up to the Go-on Wings before he shows me.
I liked it.
Every school study class he'd give me the latest episodes (that's if he brought his computer) and then I'd watch them at home. Eventually we actually needed to study so I just asked him where he was getting them from, he pointed me here.
I've kept watching Go-onger but since then have also caught up on Kiva, some MegaRanger, and I'm watching Den-O also.

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
I think there is a notice at the end of TV-N subs that say they shouldn't be used for sale and all that stuff.Mastersydneymon wrote:

Well, I have heard of TV-N for awhile but never really got into looking at it until a few years ago.
I was on YouTube and I saw a realted video to the old MMPR and it was a scene for TV-N sub of Kabuto and that lead me to watching Kabuto through YouTube. Then that leade me to RyuKendo. Two years past then an admin on another board told me about how Kiva was the sauce and then I got into Kiva.
Yep.
That's it.

I found TV-Nihon when I was looking up how to henshin, then I saw a montage of Kiva henshins. It piqued my interest, so I started watching Kiva. I also started Den-O and Kabuto and it all culminated in me finding this site, right here.

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
I started out as a Power Rangers fan.
A friend of mine brought some Power Rangers action figures over to my house when the show was brand new. I think I was in the 1st grade at the time. I really liked the look of the figures, and I started watching Power Rangers right away. The show was such a big hit that the toys couldn't be found anywhere. I still remember Toys R Us advertising rain checks for Power Rangers toys. Eventually though, the supply began to meet the demand, and Power Rangers toys were everywhere, especially in my house. I got everything I could get my hands on. To this day, I still have probably over one thousand individual Power Rangers action figures, and two huge bins full of zords.
Throughout the '90s, I watched a lot of American tokusatsu adaptations. I didn't realize what they were exactly, but I could tell they were all sorta similar somehow. VR Troopers, Saban's Masked Rider, Beetle Borgs, I watched them all.
Power Rangers was my absolute favorite up through Power Rangers in Space, which aired probably sometime during middle school for me -- I think the 6th grade. I had a whole wall of my bedroom plastered with Power Rangers posters and magazine clippings. I looked at a lot of Power Rangers sites online, and found out about Zyuranger by searching for it after seeing the name printed on one of the American toys and wondering what the heck it meant. I was very interested, but I actually thought Power Rangers looked better because it just seemed more modern, and I was just a kid. After the big Countdown to Destruction two-parter, I felt like Power Rangers was over. I watched the premiere of Lost Galaxy, but it was pretty disappointing overall. At that point, my interest in the series kinda dropped off.
When Tommy Oliver came back for Dino Thunder, I started watching Power Rangers again, and I bought the DVD of Forever Red. I got all nostalgic and looked up Power Rangers online, and I'm not sure how, but I came across MagiRanger eventually and ended up downloading the whole series. My wife and friends watched a lot of MagiRanger with me, and a lot of the show's jokes became memes around our house. I actually went to Tokyo in March of 2007 on my honeymoon, and while there I bought a bunch of Sentai figures. Now I'm all about Super Sentai, and getting more and more fond of Kamen Rider. I don't have much interest in sloppy American adaptations anymore. TV-Nihon has sucked me in by giving me what I was really looking for all along!

Re: Toku Beginnings and Finding TVN
I started as a power rangers fan also, watching from the beginning of MMPR up to Ninja Storm. By Dino Thunder the tv station I watched it on moved it to a really early time slot on weekend mornings so I didn't really watch it anymore.
I heard an actor who was in another show I was watching was in Gekiranger so I looked it up on youtube. Eventually the video's were deleted and I found my way here.

I liked Power Rangers as a kid, but that has nothing to do with how I got into tokusatsu and found TVN.
For me, it was Yume's fault. And she spent a long time trying to get me to watch Den-O...I kept refusing...and then one day gave in. (I no longer remember how that one happened, lol) And I've been hooked since.

A week or so before the fall semester started, you moved into your new dorm. Since this was your first time without a roommate, we determined that the Thursday before classes began, I was going to come stay the night and we were going to have a party. I made almond bark pretzels and brought my laptop, and then we proceeded to watch the first 22 or so episodes of Den-O, as I recall. Broken up by running to IHOP around 2 in the morning for coffee.
So really, your induction into toku was also the beginning of girls' nights ... whoa.

O__O;; AHH, that's right. I have no idea how I could have forgotten that. (Well, actually I do...but still) Toku...gave birth to our girls' nights... That has to have some sort of standing in that one thread about girls liking Kamen Rider...XD

Whoa im gonna be typing alot XP
*note, Place I lived in my life so far,Thailand ('92-93)> Japan('93-'94)> Florida ('94-??)> California (??-'98)> japan ('98-'04)> South Korea ('04-'06)> Texas ('06-'08)> California ('08-Currently).
OK, this part will start at the waaaay beginning: So I was born in asia ( Bangkok, Thailand) and I like to say I was "literaly" born into watching, SO I remember watching Fiveman and Dairanger. Then later on, PR was around and i watched the thai dubbed. then when I was in Japan, I dont remember. then I moved to the U.S.A I watched power rangers. Then moved back to Japan, I remember near the end of '99 I watched Kuuga and Timeranger then of course I watched every series after that. I lost interest when I got older.
So the last episode I saw of Kamen Rider was 555, it was the episode when takumi henshined into the wolf orphenoch at the end of that one episode for the 1st time. And Super sentai, I lost interest halfway through Abaranger (Because I started to sleep in more, not because of the PLot like some of you like to use as an excuse to drop the series). But then I saw one one more episode of Super Sentai, coincedently it was Dekaranger (i love this series) it was the ep. when Doggy henshined into Dekamaster for the 1st time (what luck huh?). Then by the summer of '04 I had completly forgot about it.
This part how i found TVN: OK, here it is!
So then I moved to South Korea. Now when you are in a military family, they dont have alot of good TV series. Alot of shows woth re-runs. So it was '05 ( 2005 is wat I like to call my "Toku break" XD) i went to visit my family in Thailand, and while there I watched with my cousin KR Blade Movie. it was ok XP. oh and I watched alot of Kamen rider ( the original) again when i was there. then when I went back to SK, I saw on saturday mornings, PRDT, thats wat got be interested back a little bit into Toku. Then in '06 I was browsing Youtube. Now this was when Youtube was cool, yea, before google bought it. And I somehow found the first ep. of PRMF. I was blown away. I loved it, now after some research, I remmbered that PR is just a copy of Super sentai, then I found Magiranger. And on the episode description, I saw TVN's name so I went to the website. And this was around the time they were subbing Boukenger. So I lurked alot, then around '07 I made an account under the name "chaizo". By then Den-o was airing, and I got to posting and I got to know a few ppl. I lost interest in the board (busy with High school) so i was out of it for a while, and re-made my account after the new forums were made. I was pretty late when this happened XD. then '08 rolls around, I get more known by alot of ppl at HJU as "Aoiblue" so then I saw we needed more QC's. So i changed my name and signed up, and Here i am.
I love this place, srlsy u guys are like a 5th family to me. ^_^

Well, as for me, I HAVE heard of the word "Sentai" since I'm around 7 (and keep seeing that word with different Rangers). Of course, as with pretty much everyone who hadn't heard about Super Sentai, I thought those were JAPANESE adaptations of PR. The lack of sufficient cultural exchange in my country and the government's conservative policies to frequently block foreign media didn't help either. It was until I left the country around June 2006 that I get to know more about these. But of course, despite my interest, I didn't become hooked to Super Sentai until...
... I started playing Taiko no Tatsujin DS. (No, I'm serious.) I was browsing through the playable songs, and I found a REALLY cool one. It was put under the "Anime" song section, so I wondered which title it could be from. Didn't have to wonder too long though, because the last line from the song was: "Juken Sentai GekiRanger!". (Yes, I have a tendency to get attracted to titles by their SONGS. The main reason I started watching One Piece.) I started browsing on YouTube for GekiRanger opening, and next, clips, and I found a SUBBED clip of the series. That's how I heard about T-N and... yeah.
Well, that's basically how I got snowballed into Super Sentai. As for Kamen Rider, I just wanted to check out Japan's BIG franchise that has TWO stars named after it. I started with Kamen Rider 555 and... Well, to be honest, 555 wasn't exactly that exciting for me, since I'm used to lots of drama with the "Poor communication kills" element. (It COULD have been better, IMO.) But I finished it anyhow, and now I've tasted the first episodes of all the KR series T-N has to offer, and I'd say I like them all. Currently watching Den-O, and it's BRILLIANT. (Although it might look like a derailment from the usually serious stories of KR, I think.)
P.S: I'm really, REALLY, glad I found T-N.
