http://blog.koheimurakami.com/

It’s 9-1-3 day again~

Let’s all give thanks for the blessing given to us by the golden prince himself. Now with merch!

Thread

Here's the thread from 2 years ago, how could we have missed it last year? What an oversight!

I like that Amemiya calls them youths when they're my age

Garo cast exhausted after doing recording.

From Amemiya’s twitter: “These kids are tired after recording for the commentary.”

Hey my harddrive died

Yup, the one that has all my scripts on it. Anyone deal with this sort of thing before?

It's a Kingston SSD. I tried putting it in an enclosure and that didn't work either.

I'm thinking about trying a data recovery site, but I'm not sure who's reliable and what's a good price. One site I saw listed SSD recoveries to be at least 1000 dollars.

Taking applications for new QCers

QCing entails:

  • Checking over videos for timing, translation, typesetting, encoding and other mistakes.
  • Making suggestions for improving the subtitle reading experience.
  • A native level understanding of English.
  • Japanese knowledge is good, but not a requirement.
  • If skilled in other aspects of fansubbing, may be enlisted to work in other areas.

If you're interested, go to the forums and send a PM to takenoko with answers to the following questions:

1) What experience you have with fansubbing/ watching subs in general.

2) What skills/experience you can bring to this group.

3) How did you come across TV-Nihon and what got you into being a viewer?

4) What other things are you doing that may prevent you from having time to work on our subs? Do you think you will have time to make regular contributions to the shows we work on?

5) Most of this work is self paced. Are you okay with doing work on your own with minimal supervision?

Deka VS Aba Blu-ray source

Just SD and HD720 versions, because the HD versions are just a bad rescale. I encoded a 1080 version just to see how it'd look and it was pretty bad. Makes sense considering the original was just a straight to VHS release, unlike the movies which probably had some higher quality source material for the Blu-ray process.

Garo -Makai Retsuden- SD Batch release

The guy who does the narration for Garo is also the guy who reads the title card for the Resident Evil games. His name is Ward Sexton. He also narrates for Music Station.

I'm going to hold off on doing the HD batch till the Blu-rays come out.

Play Moirai, it's 10 minutes long

Don't look anything up. It's free on steam.

Ultraman Nexus Manga

So I finally posted scans from the manga on my blog.

I also wrote a thread about it for the forum. I talk a bit about the manga in general, as well as note some changes between the manga ending and the TV ending.

Finally, I wrote up the specs and information about the chapter releases on our wiki.

Check it, Luna translated a manga

If you liked Kenshin or are interested in old Japan or maybe just want to try something new, check out Lunagel's side project she's been working on. Isabella Bird in Wonderland is a currently 2-volume manga series about a Scottish explorer who traveled from Tokyo to Hokkaido in the late 1800s, the first Westerner to go up that path. It's an interesting look at old Japan and the culture that still exists somewhat today. Give it a look!
