Hey, I bet some of you guys out there are studying Japanese. Anyone want to take a stab at trying to translate?
More specifically, the Winspector deal that we had seems to have fallen through. But y'know, there's always something that needs translating. I guess, e-mail if you're interested. Thanks!
Also, great job with the donations. It's really something that helps both the staff and the fans and basically keeps the site up. So a heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated

It's that time of year again! We need donations once again to keep the server up and running. This year, we need approximately $650 USD. If you'd like to donate, the donation button is on the upper right side of this page below the News Archive link and it's on the torrent tracker as well.

So right now we have a policy of splitting up our batch torrents into DVD sized chunks. The idea behind this is that if someone wanted to seed a batch, all they'd need to do is get out their DVD and point it to that
But how many people find this useful? Considering how cheap external drives are, how many people would rather just have all the series files in one batch. Would that be more convenient?
Using Shinkenger as an example. It looks like the SD batch is 14.37 GB while the HD is 16.81 GB
Which do you prefer?

So someone asked about Kuuga in the Zyu thread, so I feel like you guys deserve an update:
The unfortunate reality is that we can't do everything at the same time. Kuuga is all timed, so it's just me who's holding it up. All I can really say is, sorry, but I'll try to get to it as soon as possible. Realistically, I'm probably going to focus on getting more Mega, Dai, and a GameCenter CX out before Kuuga. But like I said, it's all timed, it just needs me to have some free time to work on non-weekly stuff
Edit: Pay attention to what gets released this week to see why we're always busy with stuff
Basically, just try to be patient and trust us. I definitely want to be the kind of guy who keeps his promises and does stuff at a reasonable time scale. Unfortunately, sometimes we have to admit defeat on some stuff, but for the most part, we do earnestly try to see things to the very end. As our anniversary comes up, it's probably worth looking back and see what we've accomplished so far. Hopefully that will be some kind of indicator of how things will go in the future

Hey, if you do art stuff and think people here would dig what you do, I'd be totally okay with going "Here's a picture that this guy made. If you like it, check out their Deviantart page" or something

Does it look like I'm laughing?
Interesting discussion fodder
Also, I think it's time to call for more QCers. We could probably use more karaoke people too, but QC is what I think we could use the most help with right now. What I'm looking for is someone who's got the time to regularly look over our stuff, is observant enough to notice mistakes, can follow instructions, and good enough at communicating to convey what those mistakes are. I'm also looking for someone who has at least some forum presence, so if you think this fits you, please send me a PM through the forum to apply. Thanks!

As some people may have noticed, I'm trying to do a translation of that toku comic and sticking them into the release threads. I'm going to try to go through and maybe do one a day or something
Here's the one he did for Shinkenger Returns

It's been a while since I plugged this, but did you know you can visit our IRC channel through the web too? Yup, you can do it through the Mibbit service.
Remember that just like with the forums, you have to obey the rules. That said, the discussions are pretty free form and the assumption is that you are an adult. Don't go if you're the easily offended type, don't have a sense of humor, or don't know how to interact with a group of other people. If you annoy people enough, an op might kick or ban you. It's a channel of people who like toku as well, but people come in a lot of varieties and types, so be respectful too. And don't get butthurt if people don't take a shine to the new guy, it takes a while to get to know a person.
Channel rules
But in the end, it's a channel full of people who probably have similar interests to your own. Pay attention to what people say, try not to hijack a conversation, or be annoying. If there's a quiet moment, stick around instead of just quitting. Some times are more lively than others, since a lot of members are from America. Go out there and meet some of our members:
Start a Chat here
Couple of addendums:
-Choose a real nick, not a default Mibbit nick
-We don't control the conversation. You're talking to real people, and sometimes real people are rude. Deal with it
-There's nothing wrong with lurking and getting a feel of how the people are before talking. We don't know you're dumb until you open your mouth and prove it
-If you like chatting with us, maybe get a real IRC client? Like http://www.sysreset.com/ or something

Sorry about not getting around to replying to everyone who volunteered. We're currently working with another group to see if we can do this as a joint, if so we should be covered as far as staff for the project goes.

So I'm picking up these DVDs. I don't know anything about the series, but it looks kind of cool. Unfortunately, we really don't have the staff to take on another project. So we're reaching out to the community for some help on this one.
We can probably provide the timing, and QC. Maybe the typesetting and karaoke too. But we could really use a translator and maybe a typesetter/karaoke person.
Fair warning, if you join us you're probably going to need to do some actual work for us. I'm only saying this (not to disparage these guys, but this is the truth) because we've had 3-4 people volunteer to translate for GameCenter CX and they all eventually quit before turning in any work. You know, those are weeks/months that we could have spent actually working on the show instead of waiting around to see if the new guy will pull through.
So if you're volunteering, know your availability and capabilities. For now, volunteer or send contact info to the e-mail address in the links above. If you can introduce us to a translator, that's helpful too.

There are two forums for user feedback. Please use these instead of PMing moderators about them
If you want to submit a DDL link or a Mirror, please use the Submit Link Forum
If you want to report a Dead Link, please use the Notify Broken Links Forum
Once again, please do not PM moderators about these kind of things
While I'm at it, please do not ask when the Decade/W movie will be out or give us raws for this. We know what we're doing and you pretty much know we'll release the movie when it's done. Don't worry about it and just be patient

If you ever need help playing a video, please use our Video Playback Help forum for this purpose: http://forums.tvnihon.com/viewforum.php?f=3
If you ever wanted to see how we keep track of our releases. The TN spreadsheet: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0ArB0BdKbcAQmcG1vemhxS04yMDVtZzRm...
About releases: If something was just released, please don't ask for when the direct download or the HD version will be ready. A moderator probably just didn't have time to put it up yet. Or in the HD case, hasn't had a chance to encode the HD version. The only problem we have right now with HD is finding raws for Goseiger's first few episodes
So in the last week we released some stuff that's been in the works for 2-3 years. Sometimes that happens with backburner stuff. People have jobs or school and get busy. It happens
And we might have a new project or two to announce soon. Keep your eyes peeled. Or gossip and start rumors, people seem to like doing that too
