As always, you can listen to it streaming here: http://www.oreimo-anime.com/radio/index.html
This time the girls talk about Valentine's Day, games, how to deal with being an otaku around family, and more Internet slang.
I didn't notice this before, but the Otaku Girls Gather is the name of the group Saori runs.
So we're more than halfway done with the shows. Woo.

I don't know why I've never done this before, but you should see the toy review blog that Kamen Rider Zeta keeps:
http://highm0bility.wordpress.com/
The pictures are pretty high quality, so you get a pretty good idea of the quality of the figures. He reviews Kamen Rider, Transformers, Ultramen, some furry guy who looks like a yellow bear, and other stuff.
Looks like he regularly updates via this thread. While you're at it, why don't you share some of your toys with us too?

http://www.japanflix.com/blog
So I was e-mailed by Japan Flix asking me to plug their blog. It looks like it has a lot of interesting articles about Japanese culture. Might be worth checking out?
They also appear to be running a Netflix for Japanese movies. Sort of like a Japan Flix. Huh.
Anyway, I haven't checked it out myself, but if it's a good service, maybe someone can give a review of it on the forums.

It's little sister appreciation week on Gokaiger!
We've also got the first ending and the Dice-O DX promo out.
Jintsuu 陣痛 【じんつう】 (n) labour (birth) pains, labor pains, (P)
While you'll hear tsuu often when someone says words related to pain, I wanted to point out the jin here. Jin means "battle position" or "military camp". It's really weird to think of how this combined with the word for pain produces "labor pains".
Also, listen for "zutsuu" 頭痛 when you watch ZyuRanger. It means "headache". Isn't that funny?

Did you know that the monster is loosely based on Greek mythology? If you've ever read the Odyssey, then this story should sound familiar. Odysseus lands on an island, and his men get turned into pigs by the witch Kirke (latinized to Circes).
http://www.theoi.com/Titan/Kirke.html
Moly is even mentioned. Hey, this show is teaching you something about mythology! How about that?
"So spoke the Radiant One; then gave the magic herb, pulling it from the ground and showing me in what form it grew; its root was black, its flower milk-white. Its name among the gods is moly. For mortal men it is perilous to pluck it up, but for the gods all things are possible. "
Anyway, if you've never taken a class in Greek mythology, the k sound in Greek was usually converted to a c sound when it was latinized. Like how cyclops would be kyklops:

Since Japanese is a phonetic language, they tend to use spellings and pronunciations closer to the original borrowed word than the English version. It's just something that comes up every once in a while, so I thought I'd explain that.

Watch out! It's Godzilla! No wait, that was for the pic I used last time.
Episode 7
Have I ever explained what the name Kyouryuu Sentai ZyuRanger means?
Well, kyouryuu/dinosaur (恐竜 from the kanji scary-dragon) is the theme, even though a saber tooth tiger, a mammoth, and technically pteranodon are not dinosaurs.
The pronunciation for ZyuRanger is actually JuuRanger since the jyu/獣 part means beast. The reason it's spelled in this way is because it relies on some outdated romanization techniques (The same one that spells shi as si and chi as ti, I think). So the official spelling is completely meaningless. It's the same word for "beast" that you know from GekiJyu/Fierce Beasts or HyakuJyu/Animals.
Note that JuuMammoth probably does not use this kanji. That Juu is probably this kanji.:
That's why we spell if JuuMammoth instead of ZyuMammoth.

Looks like the file names are spelled wrong. Please change the "Senati" into "Sentai", especially if you work to upload the files for the direct download forum. Thanks!

I've been receiving a lot of very nice, supportive e-mails over the last day or so. This has been very surprising since it's kind of like, "Huh? What's going on? Did something happen?"
I guess people are responding to the e-mail that I posted yesterday. Sure, it was kind of rudely written, but I didn't post it to garner sympathy. I work in customer service, I'm used to dealing with rude people all the time. To be honest, I just wanted to respond to the points the guy made and sort of explain the reasoning behind why we do things the way we do.
The outpouring of support is very touching and appreciated. Don't worry, the e-mail didn't put us in a bad mood or ruffle our feathers or anything. We do stuff that a lot of people watch and the response is all over the spectrum. It's just par for the course.
So once again, thanks for the unexpected positive letters. I'm going to make a post on the forum to share them with others. It's all very appreciated.
